" Our family was delighted to have Yamei teach us how to better train our pug, Chloe. Yamei came highly recommended by our veterinarian's office. Chloe developed food aggression issues, as well as aggression issues around objects at the age of one and a half. Sadly, this resulted in a few family members being bitten. Yamei's knowledge, expertise and calm approach enabled us to effectively train Chloe in a positive manner. To our benefit, Yamei also highlighted the importance of dog communication. We are now able to read Chloe's signs of stress as a way of preventing bites. After only two weeks, Chloe can 'drop it,' eat nicely while we approach her bowl, and walk appropriately on her leash. We are happy to report no recent biting! Thanks so much, Yamei!"

"Before I found Yamei and Canine SOS, I had tried other dog training methods, whose "domination" techniques were very harsh and made my little dog frightened of us.  Yamei's approach was completely different.  From her very first visit, my dog, Teddy, became completely comfortable with her.  She made dog training fun and enjoyable for me and the dog.  Teddy thought it was playtime!  He loved it.  Her approach was positive and caring.  There was nothing harsh about Yamei's training methods.  My dog was excited every time she came over.  She gave us tools to manage our dog's issues, which made both Teddy and our family more confident.  Some of my dog's problems were completely resolved in no time; others, we continue to work on with consistent improvement.  We are so grateful to Yamei for showing us that dog training can be a fun, loving and bonding experience.  Thank you!"

The kids learned so much about not just our own dog but all dogs and the language they use to communicate. They respect them in a whole new light!  Thank you for your help!"

"A Wonderful Experience!
We have a 1 and a half year old Shepherd Mix named Lexi.  We feared Lexi was starting to show some anxiety and aggression towards strangers and children.  We decided to call Yamei, as she was recommended to me by a friend, and are we ever glad we did!  It started with a telephone call to Canine SOS, at which time I explained our biggest concern, Lexi being nervous around strangers.  I instantly got the sense that Yamei understood and had dealt with this before!  We set up a time to meet and we couldn't wait!  We just knew we were making the right decision.  Througout the entire visit, we felt that Yamei was interested in our concerns and took the time to address all of our questions.  She helped us understand Lexi and her behaviours better, which in turn allowed us to take all of the training tips and suggestions and work with our beautiful pooch.  Let me tell you, the training tips have worked WONDERFULLY!  Lexi is a new dog and is now much more eager to greet a stranger and children!  We are now anxiously awaiting the start of training  for the Canine Good Neighbour Certificate and are looking forward to training with Yamei!  We would highly recommend Yamei and Canine SOS!"

Julia-ScooterCooper.jpg         "In the two years since we had rescued Scooter we had, had some disappointing experiences with attempting to get him trained.  In an attempt to find help we called Canine SOS Inc. and after talking to Yamei on the phone and explaining our situation it was apparent that she understood what we were dealing with.  At the time Scooter was a 5 year old cocker spaniel whose idea of greeting people was to jump on them, he would blatantly ignore commands even the ones he knew if it was inconvenient for him and chronically bark at anything or anyone who walked past the house.  If he did decide to sit he would be so excited he would shake.  After meeting Yamei and seeing her interaction with Scooter we were convinced she was the person for the job.  We could see a change in Scooters behaviours after one hour long session.  And we were very thankful that she included our other cocker spaniel Cooper so he would not feel left out.  After a few weeks of Yamei’s guidance and a lot of hard work on both sides and a minor blip with the lay down and sit command where he would do an army crawl or the crab walk closer as soon as you stepped back he has transformed into one of the best behaved dogs on the block.  We highly recommend Canine SOS Inc. to anyone who has a furry family member or is thinking about getting a one. Thanks!"

"One year ago we adopted a Doberman from a dog rescue home.  Although he is a sweet natured dog he was very timid around people, new situations; loud noises and sudden movements caused him distress.  We had used the services of a couple of dog trainers, but were unsuccessful in helping our dog become more 'normal'.  After four sessions with Yamei Ross of Canine SOS we have seen a great improvement in our dog's behaviour.  Yamei taught us how to read our dog's body language and what to do when situations arose that caused anxiety.  Using a positive approach and lots of praise and doing the homework assigned by Yamei our Doberman, Lance, continues to make progress towards being a less stressed dog.  We are very happy with the progress we have thus far attained and wish to thank Yamei for sharing her knowledge and expertise which has enabled us to be better 'parents' for our dog. Yamei's support and encouragement has proven to be a very positive experience for both dog and owner!  Thank you, Yamei for all you have given and continue to give."

Dog training is important for many reasons.  It improves the relationship between you and your dog.  I called Canine SOS Inc. for some direction with a four month old Shih Tzu who was out of control.  He was peeing in the house continuously, pulled when I tried to walk him, ran away when I told him to come and chewed the arm off my brand new leather couch. I felt extremely guilty crating my puppy.  Canine SOS Inc. gave me the tools to assist in shaping my puppy to what he is today.  Yamei taught me to use positive reinforcement and gentle techniques whereby training my puppy never felt like work. Both Marley and I had fun in the process.  I learned how to communicate with my dog and created a relationship based on trust and understanding.  Marley is an incredible dog.  Thank you Canine SOS Inc."

"Yamei is truly a godsend in our eyes.  She taught us how to take our dog from unmanageable to a fun member of our family.  Rascal is having a blast going for his walks now.  We just included the beach.  He is a bit scared but is working his way into the lake. He still has a bit to go but now we are able to let him out to play with the kids all the time now.  Thank you, Yamei!"

"About one year ago I had a beautiful dog surrendered to me because he exhibited fear aggression. The family felt that his behaviour was not appropriate for their situation. I took him to a vet who recommended that I get rid of him immediately - so I contacted Yamei. With her patience, humour and gentle training methods Odie is a happy member of my family....."

"After an unsuccessful large group beginner’s class somewhere else, our family was overwhelmed by Ginger, our first family dog.  Highly recommended by other dog lovers, we contacted Yamei Ross with our concerns for guidance.  She promptly responded to my email inquiries and we decided on four one hour private beginner lessons. That way, my wife and I and our two young children would receive the same instruction, fostering greater consistency with Ginger.  It didn’t take long for us to realize we made the right decision.  Yamei was prompt, prepared, and very knowledgeable.  Her instruction about bite prevention was invaluable to our two young children, who now look for signs when to pet Ginger and when to leave her alone.  Yamei’s positive behavioural techniques have proven very effective and made Ginger a most welcome addition to our family.  We highly recommend Yamei when you and your dog need some Canine S.O.S."
